Intensive Screenwriting Course

On this intensive ten-week course, led by an award-nominated industry professional, participants will gain a comprehensive understanding of the central elements of screenwriting – from beginnings to endings, reversals to revelations – as they work towards producing their own full-length screenplay.

 

During each weekly session, participants will watch illustrative clips from film and television, extensively discuss elements of screenwriting craft and technique, and workshop and edit each other’s work, under the guidance and supervision of the course leader, who will also provide written feedback on work produced. 

 

While The Hastings Writers Workshop Screenwriting Course is open to all, it is intended that those taking part will produce a full-length screenplay over the ten-week programme, while each participant will also be assigned an “editor” from within the group, who will provide feedback and support throughout the screenwriting process. We therefore recommend that participants are able to dedicate at least two hours per week (outside the sessions themselves) to writing, preparation and reading, in order to receive the maximum benefit from this exciting opportunity to study the art of screenwriting. As the writing process will begin in the first week, it is also highly recommended that participants have an idea for a screenplay prepared before beginning the course.
