About us

The Hastings Writers Workshop was founded in 2021 by writer and literary translator James Young.

Since then we’ve welcomed over 220 students through our doors, and offered courses in screenwriting, poetry, experimental fiction, spoken word/performance poetry, memoir, writing art and writing for the stage, as well as our hugely popular writers workshops, and early morning writing hours.

An established part of the writing and literary community in Hastings and beyond, the Hastings Writers Workshop is a hub for the study and practice of creative writing.
